Giant City Lodge tops November 13 Restaurant Report Card

Posted: Updated:

WSIL -- The Union County inspector took away three points from the Giant City Lodge. The spot known for its fried chicken earned a 97. Lights were burned out above the stove and food storage temperatures were discussed with workers.

Blend Tea and Crepe Lounge received a 74. The Jackson County inspector cited the spot with three critical violations. Tapioca was found at 80 degrees, well above the required 41 degrees. That was a five point loss.

Another five points were deducted because employees were using their cell phones in the kitchen. Five more points were taken away because there was no proof of serve-safe manager's card and food handler training. Other violations included cleaning problems in various areas. A missing lid on the toilet tank, and trim needing to be replaced on the ice machine. Most of the violations were corrected when the inspector returned on October 31.

The Saline County inspector gave Mackie's Pizza an 87. There were no critical violations. Some of the deductions were because of improper cleaning of some food contact surfaces. Scoops with handles need to be provided for dry items like flour and some utensils were not properly stored.

Joe's Pizza in Benton got a 90 from the Franklin County inspector. Two critical violations were reported. Five points were taken away because a cooler was not at the proper temperature of 41 or lower and a certified food handler was not on duty at the time of the check.

The Williamson County inspector gave India Delight in Marion a 93. A five point critical violation was found there. The inspector reminded employees to label coked and cooled foods in the refrigerator.
