Head-on collision on Hwy. 51 north of Dowell

JACKSON CO. -- Two vehicles collided head-on Sunday after on Highway 51 at Beech Road in Jackson County.

Illinois state police said 19-year-old Keaton Tyner of Elkville was traveling south on  Hwy. 51 when he swerved into the northbound lane and hit a gray Dodge van.

71-year-old Joyce Chamness of Elkville was driving that van, and was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. 

ISP said both vehicles sustained major front-end damage. 

Police issued a citation for improper lane usage to Tyner,
