Veterans names line the streets in Carterville

Posted: Updated:

CARTERVILLE -- The streets were lined with the names of veterans in Carterville on Saturday.

The town held a ceremony at the veteran's memorial downtown.

Congressman Mike Bost was among those who spoke at the event thanking vets for their service.

Veterans there said it was heartwarming to see the support they got from their community.

"Southern Illinois is one of the best places in the world to be to recognize veterans." Nancy Brown, a Navy veteran, said.

Organizers said more than 100 people were at that ceremony.
