Police investigating social media death threats in Chester

CHESTER -- Chester police have released the name of the suspect involved in an early morning standoff after making threats on social media. Toby Latham, 40, was arrested Monday morning. That standoff lasted about eight hours.

CHESTER-- Police have arrested the man involved in an early morning standoff. It all started early this morning after a man made death threats on Facebook. Around 7:30 a.m. Monday, police took the man from his apartment in handcuffs. His name has not been released by authorities. No injuries have been reported.

CHESTER -- Police in Chester continue to try to talk a man out of his apartment in the 1100 block of George Street after the man allegedly made threats on social media. Crews have been on the scene since very early this morning, but the man has not answered any of the pleas from officers on scene.

Neighbors in the area have left, but around 6:30 a.m. police created a 'soft perimeter' and are allowing some traffic into the area.

CHESTER -- The Chester Police Department, Randolph County Sheriff's Department and Illinois State Police are investigating threatening messages written on social media. 

Investigators are outside an apartment complex in the 1100 block of George Street, trying to make contact with a man inside. Police say that man made posts online that prompted a criminal investigation.
