WSIL -- One of the inmates who escaped from the Pemiscot County jail last month as been arrested in Louisiana.

An official with the Pemiscot County jail confirmed William Carter was arrested in New Orleans.

Two Pemiscot County deputies and an investigator with the Missouri State  Highway Patrol Division will travel to New Orleans to interview Carter.

It's unclear when Carter will be transferred back to Missouri.

Joseph Latamondeer, the other inmate who escaped, is still on the run.

Authorities say Carter and Latamondeer broke out of the Pemiscot County jail around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15.

"They crawled  an air duct to a room, and gained access to a room where they were able to break the lock to the room to leave," said Caruthersville, Missouri police chief Tony Jones. "They set off an alarm. They then jumped a fence behind the building."

Surveillance video shows them heading towards the Mississippi River.

Both men are charged with violent crimes and police consider them armed and dangerous.

Carter, 27, is facing first degree murder charges. Investigators tell ABC News he purposely ran down his estranged wife and a man with his car, killing them.

Latamondeer, 41, faces felony charges, including kidnapping.

Both were expected in court the day after they escaped.

Latamondeer is considered dangerous and any information concerning their whereabouts should be reported immediately to authorities by calling 911 or 573-333-4101.
