CARBONDALE -- The 7th Annual For Kids’ Sake Superhero 5K at Turley Park in Carbondale is Friday, September 22.

It costs $20 for adults and $10 for kids 17 and under, and guarantees an Official Event T-shirt. Your $20 registration fee will feed an orphan 57 meals. If you miss the pre-registration deadline, register at the event, Friday, September 29 from 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Turley Park.

This year, the local nonprofit is anticipating 400 “Superheroes” to participate. In addition to the race, local vendors will also offer free services including massages from John A. Logan Massage Therapists, 3D Body Scans from Natural Health Improvement Center, Shoe Screenings from Missouri Running Company, Face Painting from Plush UNLTD, fun kids activities from Carbondale Park District, and more.

After the race, there will be an Award Ceremony with individual and team awards for Top Fundraisers, Best Time, and Best Superhero Costumes. Prizes include gift cards, a bowling party, and custom-made For Kids' Sake Superhero capes. The Town Square Market Grill will have a $5 dinner with a freshly grilled burger or hotdog, chips and a drink.
