Harrisburg BBQ joint tops September 18 Restaurant Report Card

WSIL -- A Saline County barbecue spot did well during its August check with the health inspector. South Main Street Barbecue in Harrisburg only lost two points during its inspection. The deduction was for some food not being covered in storage.

Mackie's Pizza in Marion is at the bottom of our list this week. The spot got an 80. The Williamson County inspector found one critical violation. It was a five point deduction because the rear door was broken and not self-closing. That's a critical violation because the chances for pests getting inside increases, however no insects or rodents were found. Food was being stored on the floor, which was a two point deduction. A particle board shelf was falling apart and that cost the pizza joint a point. Other cleaning infractions were found. The inspector went back earlier this month and found the problems noted earlier had been fixed.

Home Run Grill in Sesser got an 87. The Franklin County inspector found two critical violations. Home canned products were found in the kitchen, that was a five point loss. The concentration of bleach was not high enough, it was 50 parts per million instead of 100. Cleaning problems were also noted during that check.

TGI Fridays in Paducah received a 92 from the McCracken County inspector. There were no critical violations found during the check, but there were a few cleaning issues found.

S&B Burger Joint earned a 94. One critical violation there resulted in a five point loss. Phones were found in the kitchen, which is a hand washing issue.
