Cancer survivor celebrated at Bears game

Posted: Updated:

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bears may have lost their home opener to the Atlanta Falcons, but one fan says she still won.

Ivy Elkins is a stage 4 lung cancer survivor.

"I feel like I won definitely today, from being here for the experience, sharing the beautiful day, spreading awareness of lung cancer," Elkins said.

She was a special guest of former Bears player Chris Draft and his foundation. The former NFL linebacker started the Chris Draft Family Foundation with his late wife to raise lung cancer awareness and funding for research.

"We're changing the face of lung cancer and we know that's something that we have to do everyday," Draft said. "It's not something that happens and then everything is changed. We are fighting against a stigma."

The "Survivor at Every Game" is an initiative with a goal to have survivors present in every NFL stadium.
