Crab Orchard High School hosts crafts fair

CRAB ORCHARD -- Organizers of an arts and crafts show at Crab Orchard High School Saturday hope to raise a few thousand dollars.

The fair is in its second year and takes place during the fall market at the school.

Vendors at the fair pay a fee which goes to the Crab Orchard High School cheerleading team.

Coach Judy Parks said the fair has grown considerably compared to last year.

"We just thought it would be something unique to bring to the area and it's been going over fairly well," Parks said.

Maci McCurdy owns Magpie Market House in Marion. She was one of the vendors at this year's fair.

"It's been an amazing thing for both of my companies," McCurdy said. "It's been great to get the word out about my storefront in Marion. It's been good just to get the community together and have some fun."

Parks said 3,000-4,000 people attended the fair this year.
