Counseling center hosts "Warriors of Hope" suicide prevention walk

Posted: Updated:

WSIL -- In the United States, a suicide occurs every 12 minutes, making it the 10th leading cause of death. For every suicide, 25 more are attempted.

To raise awareness about these staggering statistics, a local counseling center is hosting a suicide remembrance and prevention walk in Carterville.

Sound, Mind and Heart Christian Counseling is hosting the Warriors of Hope walk Sept. 16 at 2 p.m. at Cannon Park in Carterville.

The cost to register is $25. If you'd like to sign up or donate, visit their website and click "donate."

All proceeds stay in Southern Illinois and benefit education, training and counseling to aid in the mission of suicide prevention in our region.
