Herrin restaurant to raise money with local bands for hurricane victims

Posted: Updated:

HERRIN -- The Frenchman's Widow in Herrin is teaming with local bands to raise money for victims of Hurricane Harvey.

On Sept. 10, the restaurant will host an all-day fundraiser where bands will perform at the "Widow's Garden," located across the street. Manager Tisha Kosco said the restaurant will charge a $10 entry fee that will serve as a donation to go to victims.

A portion of the restaurant's total sales will also go to the relief effort.

Mike McClusky, Deanna Freeman, Chris McGee, Bill Harper, the Magnatones, Eli Tellor, Kali Lynn, Cat Daddy ‘O, Tim Crosby and Matt Basler will perform, but Kosco said more artists may be added to the list.

Kosco said the staff hopes to raise $10,000 from the event and then donate that money to three different charities: the Greater Houston Community Foundation, Texas Diaper Bank and the Houston Humane Society.

“This hurricane has not only destroyed homes and businesses but has also displaced tens of thousands of people and animals," Kosco said in a press release. "I don’t feel that helping those affected by the storm is something we should do, it’s something we have to do. I’m happy to see that so many local artists, as well as our staff, feel the same and are willing to do their part.”
