Local musicians write eclipse-themed song

Posted: Updated:

CARBONDALE -- Two southern Illinois musicians have teamed up to record a special song called "The Eclipse."

The song, 2 minutes and 40 seconds in length, matches the exact estimated total duration of the eclipse.

Mike Baltz and Shadi Frick, of Carbondale, first tried to write a jingle but say a full-fledged song quickly came together.

"Certainly, as I was writing the song, one of the things that became clear to me was how the eclipse is a metaphor for life and how you can be having dark times, followed by the light," said Baltz.

You can hear "The Eclipse" on SoundCloud, and you can also download it through iTunes, CDBaby, and Amazon.

Commemorative CDs will go on sale at various venues during eclipse weekend.
