JEFFERSON CO. -- Authorities have released new details about the crash that happened on I-64 Thursday afternoon.

Illinois State Police say Emily Stone, 35, of Evansville, Indiana, was driving a 2017 Honda SUV westbound on I-64 near mile marker 67 when heavy rainfall caused her to lose control. Stone's vehicle traveled through the median and into the eastbound lanes of traffic.

Her vehicle then struck the rear end of a Volvo truck tractor driven by Darby Key, 49, of Fort Payne, Alabama, before spinning into the front end of a transit bus driven by Kim Graves, 38, of Gulfport, Mississippi.

Both lanes of I-64 eastbound were closed at the scene for around 40 minutes. At around 5:00 p.m., one lane of I-64 east re-opened for traffic. At around 7:00 p.m., both lanes were re-opened.

The SUV and the transit bus received major damage and were towed from the scene. The semi received minor damage and was driven from the scene.

Stone and two juvenile passengers in her SUV were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon with serious injuries. Graves was taken to Good Samaritan with minor injuries. Key was uninjured.

Stone was issued a citation for driving too fast for conditions.
