One dead after car runs into creek in Perry County

PERRY CO. -- Perry County Sheriff Steve Bareis has identified the man killed in Sunday's crash as David C. Baker, 54, of Du Quoin.

Investigators are still looking into what caused the crash. 

ORIGINAL STORY

PERRY CO. -- In Perry County, a crash ended up with a car in the water Sunday around 3:15 a.m. and one person has died.

The crash happened on Route 154 in between Pinckneyville and Tamaroa.  

The Pinckneyville fire chief said the car crashed into a creek, where a person was still in the car when they arrived. The Perry County coroner has confirmed this was a fatal accident.

Carterville's dive team and Rend Lake Search and Rescue responded to see if anyone was swept from the vehicle, but they did not find anyone.
