Pearce Juniors Tennis Camp hits the court for the fourth summer

Posted: Updated:
MARION -- Future tennis stars hit the court in Marion this week for the Pearce Juniors Tennis Camp.Over 20 athletes participated and improved their tennis skills. "We have a camp every year, a tennis camp for the kids," explained camp coach, Joe Pearce. "It lasts a week long." It's the fourth summer in a row for the camp and it gives kids ages five up to 15 a chance hone their tennis skills. "How to serve, a volley and a forehand," said camper Chase Galt. "I learned how to do a backhand better than I already did," added seven-year-old Hope Evans. But for Pearce it's about teaching the athletes things to take beyond the court. ?"Fun is the most important thing sportsmanship," said Pearce. "It's working as a team and as a group.  It's being part of a team. It's being able to win and lose and play fairly and that's all part of our sportsmanship."
