Four injured in two separate fires

Posted: Updated:

FRANKLIN CO. -- Firefighters have been busy in the early morning hours Friday. The state fire marshal is investigating two house fires just a couple of hours apart

The first happened on Bond Street in Benton. Firefighters say the fire was confined to the attic of that home. An elderly couple lives there. One of them was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

The second fire was on 5th Street in West Frankfort. Two people in the house and a firefighter were injured in that fire.

Neither fire is considered suspicious, but it's being investigated because injuries were involved.

Forty-two firefighters responded to those fires.
