4 semis involved in Williamson County crash

WILLIAMSON CO. -- Illinois State Police say I-57 northbound just south of I-24 mile marker 43 in Williamson County has been re-opened after a six-hour closure.

Illinois State Police say minor injuries were reported to one driver as a result of the crash. 

ORIGINAL STORY

WILLIAMSON CO. -- Crews are on the scene of a crash involving four semis on Interstate 57.

It happened at around 4:00 p.m. just north of the I-24 and I-57 split.

One of the semis was flipped over and Southern Illinois Fire Incidents is reporting a large amount of fire at the scene.

There are no injuries being reported at this time.

Illinois State Police are on scene, along with Lake Egypt Fire and Ambulance.

All northbound lanes of I-57 are currently closed at mile marker 44. 

Crews are anticipating the road will be closed for a significant amount of time for recovery and cleanup.

Northbound I-57 traffic is currently being diverted off of the interstate at Exit 30 (IL. Rt. 146) and Exit 40. 

Authorities are asking the public to avoid the town of Goreville at this time, while crews clean up the scene.
