FRANKLIN COUNTY -- Authorities have released new details about the crash involving three semis Friday.

It happened at around 1:25 p.m. on I-57 northbound at mile marker 68.5.

Illinois State Police say Jeffrey P. Anglin, 37, of Kennett, Missouri, Terry L. Estes, 58, of Kennet, Missouri, and Brandon L. Johnson, 32, of Blytheville, Arkansas, were each driving Freightliner semis in the northbound left lane of I-57 when Johnson slowed his truck due to traffic.

Anglin crashed into the rear of Johnson's truck, causing his semi to burst into flames. Estes could not stop in time and crashed into Johnson's semi, causing extensive damage.

The crash closed all northbound lanes for about 60 minutes. Once the fire was put out, IDOT reopened the passing lane.

Anglin and Johnson were cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
