Marion set to adopt new ordinance for short-term vacation rentals before eclipse

Posted: Updated:

MARION -- The city of Marion plans to take action on preparations for next month's solar eclipse. Monday, the city council could add a new ordinance for short-term vacation rentals.

Many residents plan to rent out their homes or rooms to help accommodate the thousands of visitors expected in town for the big event. The city attorney put together a set of long-term regulations for safety for the busy celebration and after.

If approved, homeowners will need to get a license and get their homes inspected by the city.
