Argument leads to shooting in Carbondale

Posted: Updated:

WSIL -- Carbondale police responded to a reported shooting on Sunday evening.

Officers responded to the 500 block of S. Graham Street just before 8:00 p.m., and determined there had been an argument between acquaintances.

During the argument, police say several people pulled out guns and shot in the direction of each other.

Authorities say some of the suspects fled in a white Jeep, which was later located in Marion.

Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence on S. Graham after repeated efforts to contact any occupants inside went unanswered.

A special response team served the warrant and made entry, but no one was inside, police say.

There are no reports of injuries, and no one has been arrested.

The incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Carbondale Police Department at 618-457-3200 or Crimestoppers at 618-549-COPS.
