Expert weighs in on school's decision to ban graduation speech

WSIL -- A Franklin County school's decision to not allow a student to give his graduation speech has stirred up a lot of conversation on social media.

Akin 8th grader Seth Clark gave his speech outside the school on private property because he wasn't allowed to give it during the graduation ceremony due to its religious content.

School leaders never returned news 3's calls asking for comment.

Tobin Grant, chairman of the Political Science Department at SIU, offered his perspective on the issue.
