SIU reveals new finalists for chancellor position

Posted: Updated:

CARBONDALE -- SIU has revealed two new finalists for the open chancellor position.

They include Rodney Scott Hanley, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, and Carlo Montemagno, an engineering professor at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada.

SIU President Randy Dunn is in the process of scheduling one-day campus visits for the two candidates.

Last week, the SIU Board of Trustees tabled a decision on the chancellor job.

They considered three finalists but Carl Pinkert, vice president for research and economic development at the University of Alberta, withdrew from consideration.

After a closed session, board members decided that because of continuing differences of opinion surrounding the chancellor decision, they will personally interview finalists George Hynd and Interim SIU Chancellor Brad Colwell, along with the newly added finalists.
