High water not a challenge for Mother's Day

Posted: Updated:

WILLIAMSON CO. -- There was just one thing in the way from letting mother's celebrate Mother's Day with their families at Walker's Bluff Winery: water left over from the floods three weeks ago.

John Bradley Wells, COO of Walker's Bluff, said nearly three feet of water covered the road that is the main entrance to the winery, but the high water wasn't going to stop them from putting on a Mother's Day celebration.

"We're doing everything we can for the mother's today and making it happen," Bradley Wells said. "We're bringing people around the long way, but we're running three different vehicles."

The long way around was through a field.

"We came in through the field to get here on a Hummer," said mother Cynthia Hern.

Walker's Bluff employees loaded families into personal trucks and SUV's to make sure it was a special day.

"We could have easily called it off because of the flood waters, but we decided it was such a special day that we have to take care of the mother's," Bradley Wells said.

But in all, it was still about being with family and enjoying the moment.
