Murder suspect says he's not guilty

Posted: Updated:

MURPHYSBORO -- A Carbondale man accused of a deadly March shooting pleaded not guilty Thursday in Jackson County court.

Jarrell Pullen didn't say much and his attorney entered a not guilty plea for all eight charges he's facing.

Pullen is charged with two counts of first degree murder and five counts of discharge of a firearm. The judge says that's one count for each time he shot Javon Trott.

He's also charged with one count of possession of a weapon by a felon that weapon was a 9-millimeter handgun with the serial number removed.

As you can see in the picture to the right, Pullen left the courthouse smiling and waved at our camera.

Pullen was convicted in 2013 of aggravated discharge of a firearm and spent two years in prison.

He's due back in court in June and will be held without bond until that pre-trial hearing.
