CARBONDALE -- This story is sure to make you hungry.
Southern Soul Food made its way to the SIU campus as University Housing sponsors two "deep-south themed" meals.
Soul food made the menu today at Lentz Hall featuring buttermilk fried chicken, blackened catfish, barbequed pork steak, and more.
Housing officials say they had several requests from students and the community to put soul food to the menu.
"We like to cater to the students with their requests for food. And we went ahead and made a two meal event out of this soul food," said Don Dinkins, SIU Food Service Administrator.
He says along with the Soul Food Lunch today at Lentz Hall, SIU will serve the theme meal at Trueblood Hall next Thursday from 4-7:30pm.
Students with a meal plan can get in with a student ID, or pay 10-dollars for all you can eat.
