Washington Redskins honor Jackson County man

JACKSON CO. -- A Jackson County man who died earlier this year wanted everyone to know of his love for the Washington Redskins.

The football franchise helped give him a big honor on Monday.

Jim Gilbert's family worked with the Redskins and the NFL to get the green light to put the Redskins logo on Jim's crypt.

Jim's brother Jay Gilbert placed the logo on the crypt on Monday during a special ceremony.

The team also sent a special letter to Jim's family, and his mom got a special jersey.

"Like us, I think he would of been overwhelmed as well cause it was, you know, from the support from the friends and family as well as having an organization like that do something or allow us to do that was amazing, so yeah, he would love it," Jay Gilbert said.

The family picked Monday for the ceremony because it would have been Jim's 56th birthday.

They released balloons and sang as part of the celebration.
