Walker's Bluff starts bottling "Ozzy Osbourne Solar Red Wine"
CARTERVILLE -- We're just 154 days away from the much-anticipated Total Solar Eclipse and southern Illinois wineries and tap rooms have gotten busy developing drinks in honor of the occasion. News Three stopped at Walker's Bluff, where they have started bottling The Ozzy Osbourne Solar Red Wine.
The wine will be available in 40 states across America, making this the first nationally distributed wine for Walkers Bluff. The planning for the wine, like what the bottle would look like and how the wine would taste, started nearly a year ago. Now, they've finally begun bottling.
Organizers with Walker's Bluff started sending Sharon Osbourne different blends of wine to let her pick which one would carry the Ozzy Osbourne name.
Her instructions: "She told us she wanted a dry red, medium bodied wine with a little bit of oak in it," said Ryan Phelps.
So that's exactly what wine maker Phelps came up with. Now, a team has started bottling thousands of gallons of wine to send all over the U.S. But they've had requests from even further out. A man from Canada has already paid full price for an empty bottle.
"I think he said he was going to have to pay so much if it had alcohol in it at customs, that he just wanted the bottle," said Phelps.
If they get close to selling out of the 4,200 cases, Phelps says, they'll just make more.
"Walker's Bluff is expected to release the names of the other acts for Moonstock 2017 later this week. But unlike Ozzy, those acts won't have their own wine.
