CHICAGO -- Businessman Chris Kennedy officially announced his campaign for governor of Illinois in 2018 on Wednesday.
The Democratic candidate filed paperwork with the Illinois State Board of Elections Wednesday afternoon.
Kennedy, son of former U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of former President John F. Kennedy, will run against current Republican Governor Bruce Rauner and said that he will work to create more jobs and restore the economy.
Chicago Alderman Ameya Pawar has already announced he's seeking the Democratic nomination as well.
