CARBONDALE -- A group of Southern Illinois women arrived back from DC Sunday, with their spirits high.
After over 30 hours of driving and 10 hours of marching in the nation's captiol, the group of about 60 women stepped back onto southern Illinois ground.
The women describe it as a life changing experience.
"I mean mostly women but men too and that were all there with these really positive messages and it was a positive atmosphere. We had no riots, no fights, no arrests, yeah it was just completely peaceful and positive so I think everybody’s got that spirit now,” said Sada Stearns.
They say they began marching as soon as they stepped off the bus in DC, and now they're ready to work at the grassroots level for change.
