Truck driver cited after rollover crash on I-64, I-57 interchange

Posted: Updated:

MT. VERNON -- A crash at the Interstate 64 interchange with I-57 in Jefferson County sent the driver to the hospital.

Illinois State Police said Edwin Nafziger, 66, of Archbold, Ohio, sideswiped a guardrail on the bridge that goes over I-57 while driving his semi-truck shortly before midnight Monday, then overturned onto the bridge support.

Police said in a statement that debris from the truck fell onto another vehicle that was driving under the bridge on I-57.

The truck driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and police cited him with improper lane usage.

The bridge is open again after being shut down for nearly three hours overnight.
