COLLINSVILLE, IL -- Ameren Illinois customers will see a small cut in electric prices beginning in January.
Under a plan approved by the Illinois Commerce Commission Ameren Illinois will decrease delivery rates by approximately $1.37.
This is the fourth decrease in rates since the landmark smart grid bill passed in 2011. The bill is part of a ten-year plan to implement a modernized energy grid.
In the upcoming year, Ameren Illinois plans to install storm-resilient utility poles along with technology and upgraded distribution equipment. The upgrades will help to detect and reduce power outages.
To date, these enhancements have resulted in an overall 17% increase in reliability and saved customers an estimated $47 million each year.
