'Armed, dangerous' suspect captured in Union County

UNION CO. -- The Union County Sheriff's Office says Dejun D. Booker, 26, is being held on two counts of armed violence and one count of burglary.

Bond has been set at $500,000.

Booker was taken into custody Tuesday morning after being spotted by a plainclothes detective near a home on Morgan School Road in Jonesboro.

Illinois State Police and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service assisted in the arrest.

UNION CO. -- The Union County Sheriff's Office says Dejun Booker has been taken into custody.

Booker was found around 10 a.m. Tuesday at a property on Morgan School Road.

Authorities continue to investigate.

UPDATED: MONDAY SEPTEMBER 5, 2016 10:05 p.m.

UNION CO. -- Investigators say Dejun Booker has been spotted at least twice on a back road along Route 146, just a few miles outside of Ware. 

"We've been looking out our windows quite a bit. Of course we kept our doors locked. It's just basically a whole lot of nervousness," Darron Conaway said.


UNION CO. -- Shawnee School District 84 will not be in session Tuesday because of the ongoing manhunt for Dejun Booker. 


UNION CO. -- An armed and dangerous man is on the run after a burglary at Revlon Tavern in Jonesboro.

Five people were involved in the incident Sunday night. All have been caught expect 26-year-old Dejun Booker. 

He is 6' 1"and weighs 240 pounds. Booker was last seen wearing gray pants and no shirt. 

A Union County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted Booker Monday morning, 2 miles east of Ware, on Route 146.

“I just seen all of the police here down by Dug Hill," said Richard Pengress, a Union County resident. 

Sparta resident Vickie Jacobs said, "[It's] very surprising.”

Police set up a command center east of the Clear Creek Levee on Route 146.

Pengress said, “This is quite a ways from there.”

As officers searched the area, portions of Route 146 was blocked off for several hours, which caused some traffic back ups for drivers passing through the area.

Charlie Doty of Jasper, Indiana said, “This is definitely something we didn’t expect to find.” >

"Yes, it is [frustrating as a driver] because we have a birthday party we’re getting ready for," Marlin Burd, resident of Anna. 

The man hunt is still underway. Law enforcement isn’t releasing any more information at this time.

Once again, Booker is considered armed and dangerous. If you have seen him or know his whereabouts, call police immediately. 


UNION CO. -- Illinois State Police confirm four suspects were arrested Monday after an armed robbery at the Revlon Tavern near Ware. A fifth suspect, Dejun Booker, is still on the loose.

UNION CO. -- Authorities in Union County are searching for a man they consider "armed and dangerous" in the area of State Route 146 and Dug Hill Road. 

Sergeant Jeff Stroehlein of the Union County Sheriff's office says they're searching for Dejun Booker.  

Booker was last seen wearing gray pants and no shirt.  He's described as being 6'1" and weighing about 240 pounds.  

Authorities currently have Route 146 west from Route 127 North to Route 3 closed.  Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route.
