"Go Smile At Someone!". . . . If you've heard Callie at the anchor desk then you've probably heard this phrase.
Callie Carroll joins the WSIL news team in July 2015. She comes to Southern Illinois from Greenville, Mississippi where she was morning anchor at WXVT.
Although Callie spent some time in the South, she's a Midwestern girl. She was born and raised in Springfield, Missouri. As the daughter of a coach, she grew up loving all sports but focused mostly on volleyball and basketball. After receiving All-State honors she decided to further her volleyball career at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. After her freshman year, she transferred to Missouri State University.
Callie graduated from MSU with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Sociology. At the age of 12, Callie realized her dreams of becoming Miss America or a WNBA player weren't that realistic so she set her sights on TV news. Callie loves morning news and enjoys getting to show her personality through her daily stories. Her motto when it comes to her morning segments is "the crazier the better." Her favorite part of the job is getting to wake people up with a smile in the morning.
When Callie's not on air she enjoys playing and watching sports, fishing, target shooting, and teaching self-defense classes.
