Rachel is the weekday morning meteorologist and multi-media journalist at WSIL-TV. Rachel is a southern Illinois girl through and through! Born and raised in Randolph County, she became fascinated with weather at a very young age. It was at 10-years-old that Rachel decided she wanted to be a meteorologist after learning about weather in science class. These lessons were promptly followed by severe weather and tornadoes not far from where she grew up outside Chester. She took it as a sign and has been in love with weather ever since!
Rachel graduated from Valparaiso University with degrees in Meteorology and Digital Media. During her time at Valpo, Rachel spent nearly three years combing through twenty years of storm chase footage and compiling it into a documentary with classmates and Meteorology Professor Dr. Bart Wolf. Rachel has interned in Chicago with WGN's Tom Skilling, and right here at WSIL with Chief Meteorologist Jim Rasor.
In her free time, Rachel enjoys spending time with her family and friends and listening to music from her favorite bands.
