Cockrum Looking Forward to "Home" Race
DU QUOIN -- Benton's Shane Cockrum hopes a little home track advantage will help him in the Southern Illinois 100 ARCA series race Labor Day at the Du Quoin State Fair.
Cockrum drives for Brad Hill's team from West Frankfort.
"Anytime that you can come back to your local track it is pretty cool and you can get the local flavor," said Cockrum. "The fans come back because you go to some places and not many are able to make it out. At this home track we seem to be one of the crowd favorites. So, it is really cool to come back and the support means a ton to us."
Ken Schrader is the defending champ, having picked up his third Southern Illinois 100 win last year.
The racing gets underway Sunday, August 31st with the Ted Horn Memorial.
