CARBONDALE -- The Carbondale Terriers built a 15-point halftime lead, then had to hold off Cahokia late to win 28-20.

Shamarc Bursey had a huge first half for the Terriers, hauling in three touchdown passes plus an interception to help Carbondale to a 21-6 lead at the break.

Cahokia cut it to 21-20, but the Terriers added a late score after recovering a fumble for the final margin.

Carbondale improves to 4-1 (1-1). The Terriers visit Mt. Vernon next week. All six teams in the South Seven are 1-1 in conference play.
