Harrisburg's Run Ends in Final Four
ROCHESTER -- The Harrisburg Bulldogs knew the task of winning at Rochester in the 4A state semifinals was huge.
And that still didn't cover it.
The two-time defending state champion Rockets were as good, maybe even better than advertised. Rochester dominated the Bulldogs in the opening half before calling off the dogs and cruising to a 49-22 win.
Garret Dooley signed to play linebacker at Wisconsin. Saturday, Dooley dominated Harrisburg on both sides of the ball. The senior scored four touchdowns in the first half, as the Rockets and their fast break offense found the end zone seven of the eight times they had the ball in the opening half.
The Rockets defense led by Dooley meanwhile was busy holding Harrisburg to only three first half first downs.
The result was a 49-0 lead by intermission, and a running clock in the second half.
Harrisburg did not reach the end zone until it was far too late. Capel Henshaw scored twice in the fourth, and Justin Younger added a 57 yard scoring scamper to close the final deficit to 27 points.
The Bulldogs finished a great season 11-2.
The 12-1 Rockets will try for the three-peat next Friday against Rock Island Alleman in Champaign.
