Harrisburg Holds On To Beat Du Quoin
DU QUOIN -- The Du Quoin Indians find themselves in uncharted territory. The Tribe is 0-2 for the first time since 1983, after Harrisburg came to Van Metre Field and won 7-6 on a rainy night in Du Quoin.
Following a scoreless first half, the Bulldogs took the lead midway through the third on a three yard touchdown run from Dylan Hathaway. Ryne Roper tacked on the extra point for a 7-0 lead. That conversion would be huge.
Du Quoin finally got on the board in the fourth. Facing fourth and four, Brendan Fred called his number for a 33 yard keeper, cutting it to 7-6. Fred's extra point went wide right though, and that was the end of the scoring, as Harrisburg improved to 2-0 on the season.
The Indians have lost two games by a total of four points. They'll try to get in the win column next week at Herrin. The Bulldogs will hit the road again, this time to take on another 2-0 squad--Marion.
