HARRISBURG -- The defending 2A state champs are still alive in an effort to repeat, but barely.

The Harrisburg Bulldogs beat Benton 60-55 to win their own regional championship Friday night.

The Bulldogs built a 16-point third quarter lead, but the Rangers rallied, cutting the deficit to one with about a minute to play.

Following two Bahari Amaya free throws to put Harrisburg up 58-55, the Rangers had two chances in the final 15 seconds to tie, but Nathanael Higgerson and Kruz Hayes each missed potential game tying threes.  Amaya buried two more free throws to clinch it.

Harrisburg advances to the Du Quoin Sectional next week, where the Bulldogs will play Nashville Wednesday night.
