Goreville Rallies to Beat Trico
GOREVILLE -- The Goreville Blackcats dug a big hole at home Friday night, trailing Trico by as many as 16 in the first half before rallying for a 73-68 win.
Goreville whittled the lead down to four by the half, only to watch the Pioneers extend the advantage back to nine early in the third.
The Blackcats rallied again to draw even at 51 after three. Goreville then scored the first five in the fourth for a 56-51 lead.
The Pioneers then took a turn rallying, regaining the lead at 59-58 on Blaine LePere's three. LePere had 23 before fouling out.
Goreville answered the very next possession as Dayton Tripp buried a deep three, putting the Blackcats back on top 61-59. Goreville then hit 8-10 free throws down the stretch to secure the win.
Goreville improves to 9-3 (2-0), while Trico falls to 8-6 (2-3).
