CARBONDALE -- The Softball Salukis' struggles continued Saturday, as Northern Iowa came to Carbondale and swept a doubleheader--winning the opener 4-3 in 11 innings and taking game two 2-1.

The series was originally scheduled for Cedar Falls, Iowa but was moved to Carbondale due to concerns about the weather forecast.

The Panthers rallied from a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 lead in the opener. Freshman Caitlyn Wnek drove in all three runs--all three with two outs.

Down to their last strike, the Salukis tied the game in the seventh on Kalyn Harker's infield hit that scored Jayna Spivey.

The game remained tied until the 11th, when Kristin Lock delivered a walkoff double following a two-out error.

In game two, UNI grabbed a 2-0 lead and held on for a 2-1 win. Morgan Barchan hit a two-out, solo homer in the seventh to account for the Salukis' only run.

With the losses, SIU falls to 12-15, 0-4 in MVC play.

The two teams are scheduled to finish the series at noon Sunday, weather permitting.
