Salukis Lose School Record 20th Game
MUNCIE, IN. -- SIU tied a single season record for losses dropping its 20th game of the year, 71-62, at Ball State Saturday afternoon.
SIU (8-20, 5-11 MVC) led 14-8 early in the first half before Ball State (13-12, 4-4 MAC) went on a 17-0 run to take a 25-14 lead. The Cardinals carved the Salukis' perimeter defense, making 10-20 3-pointers in the game. In its last three games, SIU's opponents have converted 34-46 shots from beyond the arc. SIU used an 11-5 run in the second half to cut the lead to five with 1:22 to play, but Ball State made 9-12 free throws in the final 90 seconds to seal the win. Mamadou Seck scored a career-high 26 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Kendal Brown-Surles added 12 points. Dantiel Daniels chipped in 11. With the loss, SIU matched the school record for losses in a season, tying the 1981 and 1986 teams that also lost 20 games. |
