Salukis Fall Just Short at Western Kentucky
BOWLING GREEN, KY -- Desmar Jackson has quickly become SIU's go-to-guy. Jackson's bid for a second game winning three in eight days though was just a bit strong, and the Salukis lost at Western Kentucky 58-57.
The fact SIU had a chance to win the game in the final seconds was a bit surprising. The Salukis struggled offensively in the first half, trailing 34-26 at the break.
The deficit grew to ten in the second half, before the Dawgs made the Hilltoppers sweat. SIU cut the deficit to one and actually had two chances in the final ten seconds to take the lead, but Jackson was unable to connect on either.
Jackson finished with a game high 22 points, but no other Saluki reached double figures.
Antonio Bryer, who left the team for personal reasons Monday only to return a day later, played eight minutes and scored two points.
With the win, Western Kentucky improves to 7-2, while the Salukis fall to 4-2.
SIU now has 10 days off before returning to action next Saturday at Wisconsin-Green Bay.
