SIU Falls After Extra Innings

CARBONDALE -- The SIU baseball team fell short against the Evansville Purple Aces 4-2 on Saturday. 

Dyllin Mucha was the first Saluki to score after Parker Osborne slammed the ball to advance to second base at the bottom of the fourth inning.

At the top of the seventh inning, Purple Aces Infielder Shain Showers scored after a hit to left field.  The Aces took the lead in the eighth inning to put them on top 2-1.

SIU Infielder Jake Welsh drove-in the tying run at the bottom of the ninth inning.  The score sat at 2-2.

During the 11th inning, the Purple Aces scored two runs to finalize the score of 4-2.

The Salukis have lost five consecutive games.  The Aces defeat drops SIU 3-13 in the Missouri Valley Conference and 21-25 overall.
