CARBONDALE -- There was a time Southern Illinois dominated Drake in men's basketball. From 2000-2007, the Salukis won 17 straight games over the Bulldogs. My how times have changed.
Drake (10-11, 4-6) won its eighth-straight game over Southern Illinois Wednesday night, using a 7-2 run in the final minute to win 61-56.
SIU (8-13, 1-9) trailed by as many as 10 points early in the second half. The Dawgs battled back, tying the game at 54 with 1:33 to play. But they couldn't get any closer. On the next Bulldogs possession, Richard Carter hit a 3-pointer that hit the rim twice before falling in.
The Salukis have lost 10 of their last 11 games, including five-straight. Desmar Jackson led the Dawgs with 15 points, nine rebounds and three steals. T.J. Lindsay made three 3's for 11 points, Josh Swan scored 10.
