MARION -- The Southern Illinois Miners wrapped up their exhibition season on Tuesday. They played host to the Evansville Otters.

The Miners struggled to find any offense in this one, as Steve Marino had the only hit of the day.

The Otters scored three runs on 10 hits to claim the 3-0 victory.

Now, Miners' manager Mike Pinto will have to make cuts to complete his roster for the regular season.

"I wish some guys would have jumped to the forefront and some of the guys have played really well and made that decision really difficult," said Pinto. "So, the next few hours will be difficult for me to make some tough last minute decisions."

"I mean we gave up two earned runs in 10 innings," said Pinto. "We gave up just a couple the other day and we are getting great pitching depth throughout. So, I am happy with that. I thought we hit the ball better early in camp than later in camp. The history is that these guys can swing the bat. They can all swing the bat well. I am not concerned and it all starts for real on Friday."

The Miners open the regular season on the road against Joliet this Friday. The first pitch is set to be thrown out at 7:05 p.m.
