MARION -- After leaving 15 men on base in an extra innings win Tuesday night, the Southern Illinois Miners scored early and often to clobber the Frontier Greys 22-0.

The Miners used 22 hits and 10 walks to nearly put two dozen runs on the board.  14 of those runs came in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings.

Frank Martinez and Chris Burke each enjoyed huge nights at the plate, driving in seven runs apiece.

Ryan Cavan continued his torrie hitting by going two for three with three runs scored.  Cavan is 8-10 in the series.

The Miners win coupled with losses by Evansville and Washington vaulted the Miners into sole possession of first place in the Eastern Division, a half game up on the Otters, Wild Things, and Lake Erie Crushers.

The Miners will go for the sweep Thursday night.
