MARION -- Former Miner Alvaro Ramirez finished a double shy of the cycle to help the Frontier League Greys avoid a three game sweep by the Miners Monday night with an 8-4 win.

Ramirez's solo homer in the fifth tied the game at two. Blake Bergeron delivered a two-run triple later in the inning to give the Greys a 4-2 lead.

The Greys added four more in the top of the seventh for an 8-2 lead. The Miners got two back in the bottom of the seventh on Danny Hernandez's two-run single, but Hernandez was thrown out at second to end the threat.

The loss drops Southern Illinois four games behind Traverse City in the Eastern Division and two games behind Lake Erie for the second wildcard spot.

The Miners will continue their homestand Tuesday night as they will start a series with the Normal CornBelters.
