MARION -- After losing the series opener to the Frontier League's worst team, the Southern Illinois Miners bounced back taking the next two from the Greys in dominating fashion.
The Miners got off to a slow start. Despite having the bases loaded with one out in the first, Southern Illinois could manage only one run. The Miners blew it open in the middle innings, scoring one in the fourth, two in the fifth, another in the sixth and two more in the seventh to secure a comfortable 7-0 lead.
The Miners starting pitcher Miguel Ramirez pitched six scoreless innings, and with the help of three relievers they combined to pitch a six hit shut out.
With the win Thursday, the Miners are now 20-16 on the season. They will host Traverse City Friday at Rent One, with the first pitch scheduled around 7:05.
