Miners Outlast Thunderbolts

By WSIL Sports

MARION -- The Southern Illinois Miners faced the Windy City Thunderbolts in the rubber game three of their series on Thursday night at Rent One Park.

Things got off to a rocky start for the Miners, as the Thunderbolts scored four runs in the top first.

The Miners rallied in the bottom of the second, scoring four runs to make to tie the score.

Eventually the game went to extra innings tied 6-6.  It stayed that way until Tyler Booth made the wait worth it for the home team with a walk off sacrifice fly in the 17th inning scoring Chris Burke with the game winner.

The Miners have won nine straight home series.  They will travel to Gateway Friday.
